“I would have dreams about food as a young boy.” Ali Sabbah was born in Lebanon, and when he talks about the country of his childhood, his voice still carries the tenderness of what it was before everything changed. “It was lovely… before the Civil War. It was a beautiful place.” He loved to read and he loved to draw. He was not a sports kid. He was the boy who noticed details, who could lose himself in a page or a sketch, and who was quietly absorbing tastes and aromas that would stay with him across continents, as he continued to imagine opening Mazza Middle Eastern Cuisine.

"This restaurant is our love letter to the community," Jennifer Hannon said, seated at a table in the lounge at the back of Laziz Kitchen. "We want people to feel safe, welcome, and fed with care."

“I feel a sense of responsibility to provide people with the things that are getting harder and harder to find,” Annette Raverino says with a warm smile. “I am really lucky.” Luck may have played a small part in Annette’s journey, but passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to tradition have been the true foundations of Mediterranean Market & Deli. Her story stretches back generations, rooted in the northern Italian Alps, a place where her mother was raised and where Annette spent time cooking with family.

It's what our family revolves around." Manoli Katsanevas, owner of the eponymous Manoli’s as well as the less formal Paréa, was born and raised in the world of food. When he turned eighteen, he knew that he wanted to pursue a career in this field. Today, he has woven his Greek heritage into the culinary fabric of Salt Lake City, creating dining experiences that celebrate family, tradition, and exceptional cuisine.
